My name is Emma Eide, pronounced ee-dee, and I am an education enthusiast majoring in elementary education with a minor in studio art. I have been working with kids since middle school and love communicating and building relationships with young children. My first teaching experience was in a dance setting, helping young boys and girls to gain control over their movement while learning concepts such as discipline, team-work, critical thinking, and empathy. Being around kids every week in a formal classroom setting showed me how much I love education and the opportunity teaching provides to change the life of a child. Teaching does not just mean passing out workbooks on algebra, it means equipping students with a tool belt of life skills to utilize in academics, employment, recreation, relationships, and daily living. My aim is to provide the fuel that sparks a child's interest in learning and pushes them to start reaching farther and deeper as they learn and grow. I am working to become an educator who guides each student I touch toward finding their own strengths and passions that they will carry into the world, as I have found my passion for teaching.
Although I have extensive exposure to kids through various types of child care and teaching, I also have a baby brother who is a little blond ray of sunshine. When I am not teaching, I am often playing with him and my other younger siblings or whipping up a batch of cookies for a family movie night. I love dancing, singing pop songs in the shower, obsessing over marvel movies, and relaxing with a sketchbook or a good classic (Pride and Prejudice, Lord of the Rings, Jane Eyre, to name a few). When I am in the mood, you might see me careening down a trail on my mountain bike or pedaling around town in search of thrift stores.
